“Y hay que cuidar del brote”: el cuidado como ética y práctica profesional en la Educación Infantil

Este ensayo teórico explora el concepto de cuidado en el contexto de la educación infantil, destacando su naturaleza ética. Concebido el cuidado como la base para el aprendizaje y el bienestar, se sintetizan contribuciones de la filosofía para sostener que un cuidado de alta calidad no está dirigido únicamente a satisfacer las necesidades físicas básicas, sino que también implica presencia emocional, reconocimiento y respeto hacia el niño. El artículo se centra en las diferencias entre el cuidado profesional y el cuidado privado, abordando la necesaria distinción entre amor y cuidado. También se exploran las dimensiones responsiva y proactiva del cuidado. Las autoras enfatizan que el cuidar bien requiere la colaboración con las familias y el conocimiento sobre la situación social de desarrollo de los niños de 0 a 3 años, garantizándoles la posición de sujetos en las interacciones. Al abordar el cuidado profesional, se espera contribuir a hacer más visible y valorado el trabajo de cuidado, resaltando la urgencia de avanzar hacia una conceptualización propiamente teórico-científica del cuidado, superando prácticas basadas en nociones del sentido común en las instituciones de educación infantil.
